Style Log: Plumed Teacher

{turtleneck/thrifted :: cardi/calvin klein, thrifted :: skirt/thrifted & restyled :: boots/merona :: necklace/modcloth}

I don't have a lot to say today.  This outfit is pretty conservative and was worn quite a few weeks ago when it was chillier.  I don't love it or hate it, but when I wore it I liked it a lot.  Photos give you very clear hindsight. :P

I broke a personal record yesterday...I shaved 52s off of my mile. :)  Yep...and I have the shin splints to prove it.  I keep getting them...anyone have any advice on dealing with...and preventing shin splits?

Happy Wednesday!

Style Log: Hunger Mad Men Games :)

{Top/a.n.a via JC Penny :: Skirt/Thrifted :: Tights/Kmart :: Shoes/JC Penny}

When I put this outfit on I felt like I was channeling Joan Harris {Christina Hendricks} from Mad Men.  You know, but without all the sexy curves.  I think it's the cut of the skirt that seems "retro" to me.

Anyway, I apologize for the mini hiatus, it was unintentional.  Life just gets crazy sometimes!  I went home for St. Pat's this past weekend - did you all have a good celebration?  Brian and I went, and we took some friends with us.  It turned out to be tons of fun {albeit exhausting}!!

In other news...who's excited for the Hunger Games movie on Friday?!   THIS GIRL!!  For real, sooo excited.  I'm even planning a themed date night for it!

Have a good Wednesday!

Style Log: Friends, Family & Green Dreams

My grandparent's had their 55th wedding anniversary this past weekend, so we headed home for some friend and family time.  We haven't been back since Christmas {which, yes I know wasn't that long ago, but still...}, so it was really great to see everyone.
As I get older, I've noticed my circle of friends has become smaller, but closer.  The people that really care about our friendship have put work into it, as have I.  While, some others have sort of slipped through the cracks.  I guess the ones that have slipped...well it's kind of sad, but at the same time that's just life.  Besides, it's really nice to know that the friendships I do have are incredibly solid and valued by both sides.  It's really comforting to know that there are people in your life that continue to love you through all the changes life brings.  I guess I'm just trying to say I feel pretty blessed lately. :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!
xo, Kassie

Style Log: Mustard Love {10 & 2 Challenge}

Misfit #3: Thrifted Brown Skirt

I’ve probably had this brown skirt for about 5 years. I thrifted it at this great shop back home when I was needing more “work” clothes. I wore it once or twice, then I put on weight and moved to my current job where the office attire is super casual. Many of my skirts have been neglected since I started this job. I also wasn’t sure what to wear it with in the past, which sounds so stupid. It’s a simple brown skirt, I know, but I just had so much trouble with it. I think I felt like I had to match with the pink and peach stitching detail. Silly me!

 {Sweater/Thrifted (but it’s Loft!) :: Skirt/Thrifted :: Tights/Kmart :: Boots/ Merona via Target}

 See how crazy long my hair is getting?!

 Just chillin' with my pooch! :)

Initial Thoughts
I actually quite liked this outfit. I just threw it together last minute {per usual}, so I was quite happy with it. I absolutely love this sweater and it just fits so well with the skirt.

After Thoughts
Gah, I love the yellow and brown together. Plus, every time I wear this sweater (or yellow in general) people at work gush about how nice it looks on me! Who doesn’t love compliments? Okay, but this is about the skirt! I really like the shape and the fit, it’s flattering. It’s also very comfortable. I’ve already thought of a couple more ways to style this skirt (possibly with the shirt from yesterday??), so she will be seeing the outside of my closet more often! Please ignore the crooked belt.  I took these pictures at lunch and didn't have time to fix it.

Final Verdict
She’s a keeper! The material is a bit heavier (thus warmer!), so this skirt will be perfect for chillier months (ie. the majority of the year, ha)!

#11 Polka Dots & Boots

Holy cow, I didn’t even realize this. Yesterday was outfit #10 - that means I’m ⅓ done! Woot! Only 20 more outfits to go! Wait, no 19 more outfits!

It was supposed to get near 70 today, so I took advantage of that and wore a skirt with no tights. It wasn’t that warm, but I still survived. It’s Tuesday which means gym night, so I took some quickie photos over lunch. I would like to get out again, though as the curse of the midwest moves in [cold weather, wind, snow] I feel like I should try to find some warmer [indoor] places to take some photos.

This probably isn’t the best location in my house, but I thought it would be sort of fun with the Halloween decoration and all (but then I cropped them out for the most part, ha!). So, what’s the rule on Halloween decorations...can I leave them up until Thanksgiving. :P

Did anyone else dress up and/or pass out candy to the kiddos? Any particular cute/creative costumes?

#7 Got The Blues

[Top/Merona via Target, Blazer/iz byer via Kohl’s, Skirt/iz byer via Kohl’s , Tights/Selena Gomez via Kmart(lol!), Boots/Merona via Target]

I didn’t get good pictures of this outfit either! I went to the gym right after work and then I looked gross, so meh. I just don’t have the time to make a big fuss about getting pictures, although I wish I did. Maybe I’ll plan out my outfits for the week and just go take pictures all at once...is that cheating? Ha! Anyway, I wasn’t sure about the blueish-teal tights, but I went for it anyway. Go Bright Or Go Home! :P No one really said anything either way about this outfit, which generally means they think I’m crazy. That’s okay, it’s fun and colorful like me! I guess maybe I’m a little crazy too, so that works out.

I’m already getting outfit block and it’s only my 7th one! Yikes! Maybe I should have put more planning into my pieces? I thought I did, but now I’m not so sure. Oh well, I’ll keep trucking on!

Also, keep your eye’s peeled for a couple fun Halloween posts later this week! Best. Holiday. Ever.

What are your costume ideas?

#1 Avocado Polka Dots

I am absolutely in love with this skirt. The best part? It cost $3. I didn’t get a photo of my outfit today, but I’ve worn it before!

This is my first outfit of 30! Yikes! I doubt I’ll get photos everyday, but I’ll do my best. Full disclosure: I wore this outfit last week, I'm just behind on posting a couple days. That’s okay right? Right! I’m accustomed to answering myself, apparently even while typing.

Happy Monday!!

Polka Dots & Buns

 Polka dot skirt, thrifted. White top, gifted from Grandma! Shoes, Target.

I’m pretty sure I stole this outfit. I know I’ve seen it before, probably on one of the many fashion bloggers I follow. I checked my favorites and can’t seem to find it. I mean, sure this outfit isn’t ground breaking and I’m sure many others have worn it or something similar. However, I personally was inspired by someone to wear it...and I can’t remember where I saw it! How irritating! Oh well.

 How about those shoes? These are the crazy high heels I bought for my friend’s wedding later this month. I will not lie, these are not the least comfortable shoes I’ve worn. :P Always looking for that silver lining! [which these do have!] This outfit did cause quite the ruckus at work today. The office I work in is pretty casual and it seems If you wear anything other than slacks and a sweater it’s a big deal. I don’t like the strange attention, but I do like dressing cute.

So...I guess I’ll just go ahead and rock the boat. If I just keep dressing nicely they’ll get over it sooner or later, right?

Oh, and for the subtle waves I did ...love Maegan’s bun technique. Truth be told, I didn’t watch the video [yet]. I just twisted my wet hair into little buns.

   ...And it worked!
