Style Log: I got the Periwinkles

[Lace Shirt/ F21 :: Dress/Modcloth :: Belt/Lucky :: Sweater Tights & Boots/Kmart]

What color is this dress? Blue? Purple? Periwinkle?
I’m a day late, but better late than never, eh? I wore this last week sometime - I should have taken the photos outside. BUT. There were people out back - like neighbors and such. It was getting dark already and I really wanted to change into my sweats, so you get to see my crazy bookcase. :)  Is it just me or does this outfit feel a little...hm, "country gal"?  Meh.

The chillier it gets the less I care about my clothes and the more I just want to be super, duper comfortable. D’ya feel me? Sigh, I know I should be able to pull off both, but bare arms and legs (even with tights) seems crazy right now. My body just needs to acclimate to the change - oh wait it can’t. Why? Because one day it’s 73° and the next it’s 36°. Mother Nature is crazy.

The Breakdown...
Lace Shirt $10
Dress $15
Tights $6
Belt $10
Boots $25
TOTAL $66

Probably one of my more expensive outfits to date. It’s cool though, winter outfits will be more since I’m wearing more! I still did some good thrifty shopping there! Actually, I should take the “thrifty” out of that sentence. Sure, I found some good deals (that dress is another from Modcloth’s 70% off sale), but it’s all new, nothing actually thrifted.

And yea, I only have 3 pictures this week - seriously I had this stupid look on my face or crazy eyes in every photo. It was weird. HA.

Just for kicks enjoy this bonus photo of me...from when I was probably 3...or 5? I haven’t a clue. But it’s cute regardless! :P

SL: That Fall Feeling

[cardigan/old navy :: sweater/f21 :: cords/kohl's :: boots/target :: necklace/modcloth]

Ohmygosh, I love fall weather.  I know everyone and their brother keeps saying that, but I can't help it.  It's just so wonderfully cool outside.  Not cold, cool.  Perfect.

I've been sitting here trying to write an interesting blog, but my mind is totally blank.
So here...look at this photo of my dog flashing you.

Haha, but otherwise isn't he adorable?! :)

On a separate note, I'm really trying to get organized and figure out a way to make photography a lucrative hobby.  I'm a transplant to my current town and I don't work here - so I don't know many people.  I have some ideas for marketing online...but I'm also thinking an ad in the local paper might be in order.

What do you think? Any ideas?

Style Log: Workin' It in Pjs

Misfit #6: Long Grey Cardi

{Dress/Target :: Black Shirt/Old Navy :: Cardi/Kmart :: Boots/Merona via Target}

Initial Thoughts
 I felt pretty good when I left the house this am.  I was wearing some new jewelery from Forever 21 and In Pink and I was super comfortable! I love any outfit that looks work appropriate, but feels like pj's!

After Thoughts
First let me just make one, VERY important statement.  I am not preggo!  I think that's just this dress...and the way I slouch, not stand. Haha!  Anyway, I really like this outfit...except for the grey cardi.  Honestly, I just think it's kind of ugly.  It doesn't do anything for this outfit and I can't see it doing anything for any other outfit.

Final Verdict
It's out! This guy is going to get re purposed into a couple projects I saw on pinterest. :)

Style Log: Torn Faux Leather Dreams {10 & 2 Challenge}

Misfit #4: White Sweater Dress
I’ve had this for quite a few years as well. I actually think it was a birthday gift one year. It’s really pretty and really warm. Even so, it made it into this challenge for two reasons. One, the length is an issue. It's not quite long enough to be a sweater dress, which is annoying to me. Two, I also feel a bit frumpy in it. The fit is a bit loose and it has a tendency to stretch throughout the day.

{Tank/Kohl’s :: Sweater/a.n.a. via Jc Penny :: Pants/LC via Kohl’s :: Boots/Merona via Target}

Initial Thoughts
It’s getting ridiculous right? How often I wear these pants and boots, I mean. I can’t help myself. I went online yesterday hoping to order more of these skinnies. NOPE. All sold out in my size,so sad. THEN, I went to put my favorite boots on and noticed the lining is all torn out from the cuff, argh! I think I may use some sewing glue to help them last a little longer. :)
I liked what looked back at me in the mirror this morning. The sweater feels a bit thick always, but cinching it with a belt really helps. As does pairing it with skinnies, because it’s definitely too short for leggings {at least for work!}.

After Thoughts
I like this sweater for the most part. It’s a bit heavy looking (and it is super warm!), but it looks nice with a belt. My only concern is it’s not super versatile, I feel like I can only wear it with skinnies. Also, because of the cowl neck I feel like I can’t wear a necklace or scarf. Although, maybe I could tie a scarf under the cowl for a pop of color? That could work. I’ve also always thought of pairing this with a flowy skirt.

Final Verdict
This isn't a favorite piece in my closet, but I do like it. Plus I’m starting to think of some other possibilities for styling it, so it definitely deserves to stick around. I feel like this belted sweater and skinnies look is sort of my lazy day fall back when I wake up late. Super easy!

Style Log: Mustard Love {10 & 2 Challenge}

Misfit #3: Thrifted Brown Skirt

I’ve probably had this brown skirt for about 5 years. I thrifted it at this great shop back home when I was needing more “work” clothes. I wore it once or twice, then I put on weight and moved to my current job where the office attire is super casual. Many of my skirts have been neglected since I started this job. I also wasn’t sure what to wear it with in the past, which sounds so stupid. It’s a simple brown skirt, I know, but I just had so much trouble with it. I think I felt like I had to match with the pink and peach stitching detail. Silly me!

 {Sweater/Thrifted (but it’s Loft!) :: Skirt/Thrifted :: Tights/Kmart :: Boots/ Merona via Target}

 See how crazy long my hair is getting?!

 Just chillin' with my pooch! :)

Initial Thoughts
I actually quite liked this outfit. I just threw it together last minute {per usual}, so I was quite happy with it. I absolutely love this sweater and it just fits so well with the skirt.

After Thoughts
Gah, I love the yellow and brown together. Plus, every time I wear this sweater (or yellow in general) people at work gush about how nice it looks on me! Who doesn’t love compliments? Okay, but this is about the skirt! I really like the shape and the fit, it’s flattering. It’s also very comfortable. I’ve already thought of a couple more ways to style this skirt (possibly with the shirt from yesterday??), so she will be seeing the outside of my closet more often! Please ignore the crooked belt.  I took these pictures at lunch and didn't have time to fix it.

Final Verdict
She’s a keeper! The material is a bit heavier (thus warmer!), so this skirt will be perfect for chillier months (ie. the majority of the year, ha)!

Style Log: Beer, Love, and Cardigans {10 & 2 Challenge}

Misfit #2: Kohl's Tan Plaid Button Down
Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, I was feeling under the weather and didn't get any photos.  Well, if I'm being honest I never even changed out of my pjs.  That's just how it goes sometimes, eh?

{Button down/ Kohl’s :: Cardigan/ Old Navy :: Pants/ LC via Kohl’s :: Boots/ Merona via Target}

Initial Thoughts
I was once again in a rush, but when am I not? I just sort of threw this together, I’m not even sure I looked in the mirror before I left. The colors matched and I was comfy, so I wasn't super concerned.

After Thoughts
I like it. I mean I feel a bit frumpy looking at these pictures, but not in a bad way. Does that make sense? I was just so comfortable all day, it was wonderful. Plus, I love those pants and that cardi. Actually, this cardigan reminds me of my boyfriend so much. The fit is very “manish” and looks similar to something he wore on our 2nd date. Yes, I do remember what he wore on our second date. A navy shirt with an argyle cardigan, jeans, and some suede brown shoes. He looked really nice and I remember thinking that he must take pride in his appearance because he was always dressed well.

Then...I spilled an entire beer on him...yep. I’m telling you, it was love at first spill.

Final Verdict
Keeping it! I just need to work it into my outfits now!

#30 Date Night

I’m finished. FINALLY. For real, I started to loathe this challenge at times, but I’m glad I stuck it out. I actually did it! It may not have always been pretty, but I did it, I followed through!

Anyway, Brian & I are headed back home tonight. Once we get there we are going out for sushi! I can’t wait! I’ve only had sushi once, but I loved it! I’ll be sure to take some yummy pictures.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

#28 Baby Steps

 Still chilly here in the midwest! Even so, I braved a skirt - with no tights! Lately it’s been pretty warm in the office, it’s just the getting there part! At first, I wasn’t sure about this outfit, the colors to be specific. Now that I see it in a photo, I definitely think it works. I’m generally pretty conservative when it comes to wearing more than one color. I mean, I’ll wear color, but I usually pair it with a neutral. Although, navy blue is basically a neutral. Baby steps folks, baby steps.

#24 & #25 Fiday Plumday

Happy Sunday!

I actually wore this on Friday, but I haven't been near my computer since then!  I didn't get any photos of the dressier outfit, oh well!

Today my boyfriend and I took pictures for our holiday card!  I think he had more fun then he expected to, or maybe that's just what I'm telling myself?  At the very least, he played along and was a good sport about it all!  I bribed him [and my pooch, Theo] with super yummy deer jerky!  Food is always a good way to get cooperation out of men...and dogs.  :)

#17 Simple

My boss texted me this morning and told me I could wear jeans to work, AGAIN! I was so thankful, because I didn’t get to bed until well after midnight and was not feeling too “dressy”. I helped with elections last night and wound up staying at work until 11 pm. It might be lame, but that is well past my weeknight bedtime!

This outfit is pretty simple and unimaginative, which directly reflects my mind set when I put it on. I’ve worn this shirt a lot, so I’m going to try really hard not to wear it again for the rest of the challenge.

In other news, I’m starting up the “Thursday Recipe” post tomorrow. I think I did it once before, but then I started this challenge and it sort of took over my blog! Which is okay for the moment, but I’m going to start working in some things that will be around long after this challenge [hopefully!]. I originally planned on Ginger Flair being more of a “life style” blog touching down on many things, including style, so that’s what I’m going to start moving towards.

On that note, Happy Hump Day! :)

#14 Cozy

I love this outfit so much that I wore it Friday and today!  The only person who saw me both days was my boyfriend and I honestly don't think he would have noticed had I kept my mouth shut.  Seriously though, how can you not love a hooded, down feather vest?  And, don't forget the faux fur trim - love at first sight. <3

This afternoon I did a little photo shoot with my friend and her hubby for their holiday card!  I think it went pretty well and now I'm just editing some of their photos [and watching The Day After Tomorrow].  Anyway, while I was there, I figured I'd take the opportunity to get some nice outfit photos.  With the exception of the insane wind it was a pretty nice day and it felt good to get outside some.  The snow will be here before we know it...I cringe at that thought.

I would also like to say I did a little DIY on these skinnies.  I got them as a gift a year or so ago and I was about 10 lbs heavier then.  So obviously, my skinnies were no longer skinny!  I google some stuff, then ended up pinning up the inner seams and sewing them tighter.  Now, I have a perfectly good pair of well fitting skinnies and an extra $40 bucks in my pocket.  Good stuff right there. :)

 For real....love these boots!

Anyway, my brain power is about on empty.  Hope you had a great weekend!

#11 Polka Dots & Boots

Holy cow, I didn’t even realize this. Yesterday was outfit #10 - that means I’m ⅓ done! Woot! Only 20 more outfits to go! Wait, no 19 more outfits!

It was supposed to get near 70 today, so I took advantage of that and wore a skirt with no tights. It wasn’t that warm, but I still survived. It’s Tuesday which means gym night, so I took some quickie photos over lunch. I would like to get out again, though as the curse of the midwest moves in [cold weather, wind, snow] I feel like I should try to find some warmer [indoor] places to take some photos.

This probably isn’t the best location in my house, but I thought it would be sort of fun with the Halloween decoration and all (but then I cropped them out for the most part, ha!). So, what’s the rule on Halloween decorations...can I leave them up until Thanksgiving. :P

Did anyone else dress up and/or pass out candy to the kiddos? Any particular cute/creative costumes?
