Friday Favorites: Mustard

I love mustard!  The color, of course, just like everyone else right now.  It's such a great color, and if you're a red head like me you are EXTRA stoked, because it looks amazing on us!
Okay, let's be real, it looks amazing on everyone.
Anyway, here's some mustard love via pinterest. :)

Style Log: Abstracts & Cords

 Misfit #7: Brown Cardigan
This piece made it into the challenge because for some reason I never wear it. I have no clue why, it’s simple and cute. I think I thought it was too tight or maybe it’s the higher collar thing. Who knows!

{Top/Old Navy :: Cardi/Thrifted :: Pants/LC via Kohl’s :: Boots/Merona via Target}

Initial Thoughts
I quite liked my reflection this morning, the colors in this top are fantastic. I hadn’t worn it yet and the brown cardigan just worked perfectly with it. Plus, the graphic shirt is a actually a tank top, so the cardi was a necessity. I felt casual, but well put together. It was nice!

After Thoughts
When I finally got to work this morning {how is it possible that I’m always running late?} I got lots of compliments on my outfit. One coworker even went as far as too say that she loved when I dressed up, especially when I wore skirts and dresses. That was super nice of her and obviously put a smile on my face. It’s nice knowing not everyone in your office thinks you are crazy. :)
I do like this cardigan. It’s very soft and comfortable and I don’t have any other brown cardi’s. I’m honestly not sure why I haven’t been wearing it more. It could easily be worn buttoned up or belted {which I almost did today!}.

Final Verdict
It’s a keeper! I think it’s a nice basic piece that will be perfect for adding layers during the chillier months.

Style Log: Workin' It in Pjs

Misfit #6: Long Grey Cardi

{Dress/Target :: Black Shirt/Old Navy :: Cardi/Kmart :: Boots/Merona via Target}

Initial Thoughts
 I felt pretty good when I left the house this am.  I was wearing some new jewelery from Forever 21 and In Pink and I was super comfortable! I love any outfit that looks work appropriate, but feels like pj's!

After Thoughts
First let me just make one, VERY important statement.  I am not preggo!  I think that's just this dress...and the way I slouch, not stand. Haha!  Anyway, I really like this outfit...except for the grey cardi.  Honestly, I just think it's kind of ugly.  It doesn't do anything for this outfit and I can't see it doing anything for any other outfit.

Final Verdict
It's out! This guy is going to get re purposed into a couple projects I saw on pinterest. :)

Style Log: Mustard Love {10 & 2 Challenge}

Misfit #3: Thrifted Brown Skirt

I’ve probably had this brown skirt for about 5 years. I thrifted it at this great shop back home when I was needing more “work” clothes. I wore it once or twice, then I put on weight and moved to my current job where the office attire is super casual. Many of my skirts have been neglected since I started this job. I also wasn’t sure what to wear it with in the past, which sounds so stupid. It’s a simple brown skirt, I know, but I just had so much trouble with it. I think I felt like I had to match with the pink and peach stitching detail. Silly me!

 {Sweater/Thrifted (but it’s Loft!) :: Skirt/Thrifted :: Tights/Kmart :: Boots/ Merona via Target}

 See how crazy long my hair is getting?!

 Just chillin' with my pooch! :)

Initial Thoughts
I actually quite liked this outfit. I just threw it together last minute {per usual}, so I was quite happy with it. I absolutely love this sweater and it just fits so well with the skirt.

After Thoughts
Gah, I love the yellow and brown together. Plus, every time I wear this sweater (or yellow in general) people at work gush about how nice it looks on me! Who doesn’t love compliments? Okay, but this is about the skirt! I really like the shape and the fit, it’s flattering. It’s also very comfortable. I’ve already thought of a couple more ways to style this skirt (possibly with the shirt from yesterday??), so she will be seeing the outside of my closet more often! Please ignore the crooked belt.  I took these pictures at lunch and didn't have time to fix it.

Final Verdict
She’s a keeper! The material is a bit heavier (thus warmer!), so this skirt will be perfect for chillier months (ie. the majority of the year, ha)!

Holiday Wish List!

I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers are posting their Holiday Wish Lists...so I thought I would too! Here are a few things I wouldn’t mind finding under the tree this year!

1. TOMS - Teal Pop Herringbone Women's Classics or maybe the Purple Houndstooth!
2. ModCloth’s Turn Back Time Necklace in El Prado & Wears Like a Charm Necklace - I love the vintage feel and brass color!
3. Lomography Diana Mini 35mm Camera - This would be a super fun way to get back into film photography!
4. Bomber Jacket from Target - I meant to find this on my birthday shopping trip, but I forgot! I’ll probably go pick it up with some holiday cash!
5. September Trip Satchel from ModCloth - I LOVE this bag!
6. Great Gatsby Tshirt from Out of Print - I NEED this shirt. I hope someone got the hint! Hands down my favorite book.
7. Books! A couple on my list are Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiquro
8. Glasses from Warby Parker. I’m really love the Sinclair [just waiting for them to be back in stock for the Home Try On!], the Miles, and the Colton.
9. I need a floor lamp for my living room, I like this one from Target.
10. Some art for my kitchen! I like this wood sign and this Martinis Rossi & Torino print.

#27 Holiday Cheer

Just getting into the Holiday spirit a bit!  Yes, yes that is my Christmas tree!  It's up, just not decorated.

Anyway, I was packing and trying things on for the upcoming holiday...and decided to take pictures for my 30 for 30! It’s that blue plaid dress with my black sweater over top, that I just sort of tucked into a belt. You can’t tell from these pictures, but my leggings are sparkle-y! I’ll be wearing this wearing over the weekend!

#26 Teal Me More

It’s Monday...again, still. Whatever. It was freezing this morning and it hasn’t gotten much better, so I scrapped my skirt for pants. I’ll wear the skirt tomorrow, it’s suppose to be a smidge warmer. Happy Monday!

#24 & #25 Fiday Plumday

Happy Sunday!

I actually wore this on Friday, but I haven't been near my computer since then!  I didn't get any photos of the dressier outfit, oh well!

Today my boyfriend and I took pictures for our holiday card!  I think he had more fun then he expected to, or maybe that's just what I'm telling myself?  At the very least, he played along and was a good sport about it all!  I bribed him [and my pooch, Theo] with super yummy deer jerky!  Food is always a good way to get cooperation out of men...and dogs.  :)

#18 Grey Lime

My titles are so original, eh?  Ha, my brain is pooped out from the long weekend!  I actually wore this outfit last Thursday.  I meant to come home from work and post it right away, but alas that did not happen.  Since we had Friday off for Veteran's day the work folk decided to have a "committee meeting" at one of the local watering holes.  By "committee meeting" I just mean we went and had half priced beer while snacking on healthy treats, such as fried cheese balls.  Good times were had!  However, by time I got home I did not feel up to taking outfit photos.

Somehow, it became Sunday, so I figured I'd better get something up!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

#17 Simple

My boss texted me this morning and told me I could wear jeans to work, AGAIN! I was so thankful, because I didn’t get to bed until well after midnight and was not feeling too “dressy”. I helped with elections last night and wound up staying at work until 11 pm. It might be lame, but that is well past my weeknight bedtime!

This outfit is pretty simple and unimaginative, which directly reflects my mind set when I put it on. I’ve worn this shirt a lot, so I’m going to try really hard not to wear it again for the rest of the challenge.

In other news, I’m starting up the “Thursday Recipe” post tomorrow. I think I did it once before, but then I started this challenge and it sort of took over my blog! Which is okay for the moment, but I’m going to start working in some things that will be around long after this challenge [hopefully!]. I originally planned on Ginger Flair being more of a “life style” blog touching down on many things, including style, so that’s what I’m going to start moving towards.

On that note, Happy Hump Day! :)

#16 Down Hill

I'm over the hump, it's all down hill from here.  In the good way, like I'm rolling quickly down the hill to the finish line! Woot!  By the way, this grey cardigan isn't in my original 30.  I'm swapping it out with the long sleeve teal cardi that I haven't worn yet.

 Today is Election Day!  It's city elections of some sort, I'm not sure.  Don't worry, I'm not going to be an uneducated voter, I'm just working.  I have to head back to work here soon and stay to collect tally's and such.

One great thing about election day is that I got to wear jeans to work! That's always a good day.

#14 Cozy

I love this outfit so much that I wore it Friday and today!  The only person who saw me both days was my boyfriend and I honestly don't think he would have noticed had I kept my mouth shut.  Seriously though, how can you not love a hooded, down feather vest?  And, don't forget the faux fur trim - love at first sight. <3

This afternoon I did a little photo shoot with my friend and her hubby for their holiday card!  I think it went pretty well and now I'm just editing some of their photos [and watching The Day After Tomorrow].  Anyway, while I was there, I figured I'd take the opportunity to get some nice outfit photos.  With the exception of the insane wind it was a pretty nice day and it felt good to get outside some.  The snow will be here before we know it...I cringe at that thought.

I would also like to say I did a little DIY on these skinnies.  I got them as a gift a year or so ago and I was about 10 lbs heavier then.  So obviously, my skinnies were no longer skinny!  I google some stuff, then ended up pinning up the inner seams and sewing them tighter.  Now, I have a perfectly good pair of well fitting skinnies and an extra $40 bucks in my pocket.  Good stuff right there. :)

 For real....love these boots!

Anyway, my brain power is about on empty.  Hope you had a great weekend!
