Good Intentions

I always have good intentions...but bad follow through. I wonder if this makes me an unreliable person? Sometimes, probably. I keep meaning to write a blog, but then I just don’t. Time gets away from me so quickly, so easily. I keep meaning to work on some holiday gifts, but then I get sidetracked. I keep meaning to work on my skirt, but then I think I don’t have enough time to complete it, so I don’t start it.

Excuses.

I need to work on my follow through.

I writing this blog earlier in the day and I am going to promise myself that I’ll post it when I get home. [See, totally did it!]. Since I feel like I’ve been a little MIA, why don’t I take this time to update you on my life? Because I know we are all best friends and you do care. :P

Last weekend we went up to Wisconsin to visit Brian’s mother. Holy moly it was cold...and it even snowed on us a smidge. Just a smidge, but still. While we were there she took us to an apple festival, again cold, but fun! I wish I had more pictures, but alas I do not. I think I have some on my actual camera, I’ll have to look soon...ha.

Aren’t we cute all bundled up? Btw, there is rum in that cider and even though my boot broke right after this (unrelated to the booze!) it was super, super yummy! The fall colors up there were gorgeous. Apparently many of the leaves had already fallen, but I couldn’t tell. His mom sort of lives in the middle of nowhere...actually she lives in a national forest (which I had no clue you could do) and it’s just insanely pretty and peaceful. Sure there are houses and a few bars, restaurants and lodges around the lake, but there is just so much nature that is untouched by man. It has a completely different feeling and I like it. I definitely wouldn’t mind living somewhere like that, at least for a few years. I’m sure I’d get bored with it eventually, but it’s just so amazing to see nature at it’s finest like that. I really enjoyed it.

Anyway, I’m going to go enjoy the cool outdoors before it gets dark. I have a walk date with Brian & Theo.

Oh and here’s two more photos just cause. My cute shoes and my cute dog! :)

p.s. those shoes were $9.99 at kmart - and I used my kmart dollars or whatever, so they were really only $6. AWESOME!

30 for 30 Challenge...again?

Am I crazy? I must be. I loathed this thing last time, seriously. However, thoughts of doing this have been haunting me for the past couple of weeks. It’s a different season, I have different clothes to wear...and I’m a bit braver with my style now. I’m evolving...{but not out of my corny tendencies, har har}. Anyway, the decision has been made, so don’t try to talk me out of it. {Wait, are you sure you don’t want to try? For real, it wouldn’t be hard...}. Le sigh. So here we go...

Also, this will probably take me longer than a month to post. Mainly, because I don’t plan on blogging on weekends, but I will continue with the challenge. In fact if I’m being totally honest, I’m already on like Day 5 on the challenge. :P Maybe I’ll double up on some of the posts, or only post my favorites and then do a recap of all at the end? Okay, now I’m just thinking out loud and this post is too long as is.

Enjoy your Monday :)

Friday Favorites: Wish List Edition

I’m going to incorporate a “wish list” of sorts into the Friday Favorites.  Basically,  just things I’ve seen in the last couple weeks that I love and may or may not be purchasing.

My bf's sister is getting married this summer and she asked me to wear purple or gold or black.  I found this Zooey dress and fell in love.  I think I'll style it with a gold belt and gold flats.

I love this satchel!  Such a great color!!

Holiday Wish List!

I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers are posting their Holiday Wish Lists...so I thought I would too! Here are a few things I wouldn’t mind finding under the tree this year!

1. TOMS - Teal Pop Herringbone Women's Classics or maybe the Purple Houndstooth!
2. ModCloth’s Turn Back Time Necklace in El Prado & Wears Like a Charm Necklace - I love the vintage feel and brass color!
3. Lomography Diana Mini 35mm Camera - This would be a super fun way to get back into film photography!
4. Bomber Jacket from Target - I meant to find this on my birthday shopping trip, but I forgot! I’ll probably go pick it up with some holiday cash!
5. September Trip Satchel from ModCloth - I LOVE this bag!
6. Great Gatsby Tshirt from Out of Print - I NEED this shirt. I hope someone got the hint! Hands down my favorite book.
7. Books! A couple on my list are Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiquro
8. Glasses from Warby Parker. I’m really love the Sinclair [just waiting for them to be back in stock for the Home Try On!], the Miles, and the Colton.
9. I need a floor lamp for my living room, I like this one from Target.
10. Some art for my kitchen! I like this wood sign and this Martinis Rossi & Torino print.

#1 Avocado Polka Dots

I am absolutely in love with this skirt. The best part? It cost $3. I didn’t get a photo of my outfit today, but I’ve worn it before!

This is my first outfit of 30! Yikes! I doubt I’ll get photos everyday, but I’ll do my best. Full disclosure: I wore this outfit last week, I'm just behind on posting a couple days. That’s okay right? Right! I’m accustomed to answering myself, apparently even while typing.

Happy Monday!!

Polka Dots & Buns

Polka dot skirt, thrifted. White top, gifted from Grandma! Shoes, Target.

I’m pretty sure I stole this outfit. I know I’ve seen it before, probably on one of the many fashion bloggers I follow. I checked my favorites and can’t seem to find it. I mean, sure this outfit isn’t ground breaking and I’m sure many others have worn it or something similar. However, I personally was inspired by someone to wear it...and I can’t remember where I saw it! How irritating! Oh well.

How about those shoes? These are the crazy high heels I bought for my friend’s wedding later this month. I will not lie, these are not the least comfortable shoes I’ve worn. :P Always looking for that silver lining! [which these do have!] This outfit did cause quite the ruckus at work today. The office I work in is pretty casual and it seems If you wear anything other than slacks and a sweater it’s a big deal. I don’t like the strange attention, but I do like dressing cute.

So...I guess I’ll just go ahead and rock the boat. If I just keep dressing nicely they’ll get over it sooner or later, right?

Oh, and for the subtle waves I did ...love Maegan’s bun technique. Truth be told, I didn’t watch the video [yet]. I just twisted my wet hair into little buns.

   ...And it worked!

It's MONDAY!

Don't you just love Mondays?  Don't you just love sarcasm even more?  Haha, nah Monday's aren't so bad!
Sso what shoes did I end up getting?

I haven't spent a lot of time in them yet, but at first test they are pretty comfortable.  Please remember that comfort [especially when referring to shoes] is completely relative.  These are 4 inch platforms, so I'm not expecting to win a dance marathon in them, but I'll be able to handle them for the wedding, the pictures and at least part of the reception. :)

I also wanted to take outfit photos today, however my sweater dress got all stretched out and looked frumpy by quitting time.  What is that about?  I don't know enough about fabrics to shop accordingly, but I hate when clothes stretch tremendously throughout the day.  So, as 4 o'clock hit on this lovely Monday I was wearing a teal sack synched with a belt. Eck.  Although, my outfit did start out cute and it was super comfy and simple.  A definite go-to for the fall months, so I recreated it on polyvore for you! :)

Sweater Dress Outfit

I'm going out of town for a conference for a couple of days, so I'll see you later this week. Hopefully, by then I can get up the photos and some notes on a DIY project I did! Yippee!!

Shoe Shopping?

Hello All!! TGIF right?! Actually, I thought the week flew by, which was nice, but I didn’t get much done.

This weekend the boyfriend and I are headed over to the nearest normal sized town [50-60 miles!] to do a little shopping and hit a sports bar for the Hawkeye game. This little trip was prompted by the fact that I need red heels! Yes, you read correctly. Need, not want. Not that I mind having red heels, but this is not a luxury trip.

You see, I’m in my friend’s wedding this October [coming up fast!] and I was told to get red shoes for it. I am very thankful she is letting us pick out our own, but I have put it off and put it off! I just need to get it done! I found a picture of the dress we are wearing and I used polyvore to look at a few ideas. What do you think? I want the shoes to be under $50, which is why most of those are from Target!

Lindsay's Bridesmaid Shoe Ideas

How important do you think it is for the red on the sash and the red in the shoe to match? The dress is being altered at the moment, so I won't have it with me to compare. Thoughts?  I really like the ones in the upper left, but they are too pricey just for a wedding  Although I would probably wear them again, so maybe I'll splurge.  Otherwise the one center left, lower left corner and lower right corner are my favorites.   I guess we'll just have to see what I can find in my size!

Some other things I plan on picking up this weekend....
-glitter glue for my nails [see ...love maegan manicures!]
-Spray paint for a project that I will be posting...as soon as I finish it!
-Foam wreath for another project I'm planning!

Yay, Hobby Lobby here I come!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
