Style Log: Torn Faux Leather Dreams {10 & 2 Challenge}

Misfit #4: White Sweater Dress
I’ve had this for quite a few years as well. I actually think it was a birthday gift one year. It’s really pretty and really warm. Even so, it made it into this challenge for two reasons. One, the length is an issue. It's not quite long enough to be a sweater dress, which is annoying to me. Two, I also feel a bit frumpy in it. The fit is a bit loose and it has a tendency to stretch throughout the day.

Initial Thoughts
It’s getting ridiculous right? How often I wear these pants and boots, I mean. I can’t help myself. I went online yesterday hoping to order more of these skinnies. NOPE. All sold out in my size,so sad. THEN, I went to put my favorite boots on and noticed the lining is all torn out from the cuff, argh! I think I may use some sewing glue to help them last a little longer. :)
I liked what looked back at me in the mirror this morning. The sweater feels a bit thick always, but cinching it with a belt really helps. As does pairing it with skinnies, because it’s definitely too short for leggings {at least for work!}.

After Thoughts
I like this sweater for the most part. It’s a bit heavy looking (and it is super warm!), but it looks nice with a belt. My only concern is it’s not super versatile, I feel like I can only wear it with skinnies. Also, because of the cowl neck I feel like I can’t wear a necklace or scarf. Although, maybe I could tie a scarf under the cowl for a pop of color? That could work. I’ve also always thought of pairing this with a flowy skirt.

Final Verdict
This isn't a favorite piece in my closet, but I do like it. Plus I’m starting to think of some other possibilities for styling it, so it definitely deserves to stick around. I feel like this belted sweater and skinnies look is sort of my lazy day fall back when I wake up late. Super easy!

Style Log: Grey, Red, Leopard

  {Jacket/Mossimo via Target, Dress/Thrifted, Scarf/Gifted, Boots/Worthington via JC Penny}

I wore this outfit [or a variation of it] two days this week! Also, is it okay that this jacket appears in two consecutive style posts? Hmm, would you have even noticed if I hadn’t told you? Guessing not! Oh well!

I wore this exact outfit to work one day then I wore it again for my birthday evening out on Saturday! Except, I wore the leopard scarf as a belt instead, I liked it much better that way. I’m thinking this ensemble may make a third appearance for some holiday festivities later this week. It’s comfy, warm and oh so cute!

#5 Breezy Boots

I did it. I went and took photos out in the world today! I love them! It was so much fun and I think they turned out pretty great! Of course, it was also incredibly windy outside. At one point, my tripod even started to tip over, but somehow I magically caught it. Oh well, that crazy wind blown look is in now, right?

 I really like this outfit. I don’t usually wear pink, but that’s one reason this sweater is in my 30 items. I love these boots. LOVE. I got them at Target for $30. I told you I would break the no shopping rule. I broke it and it feels so good! These shoes will be taking the place of my grey heels. I haven’t worn the grey ones yet, plus I have no clue why I even put them in my 30 items. Probably because we were having this crazy heat wave when I was selecting my items and now it’s crazy cold. I’m also switching out a couple other items [sorry], but I haven’t worn any of the switcheroos, so that’s allowed right? I’ll address the new items as the appear in outfits.

Back to the boots, best 30 bucks I’ve spent. Ever. These things are so flipping comfortable they should be illegal. I want to sleep in these boots. That’s how comfortable they are. I have planned several outfits around these boots. In fact, I will be basically living in them this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, it’s my friend’s wedding - yippee!! So, I won’t be around for a couple days. Plus, I don’t think either of my festivity outfits will be fitting into my 30 for 30, but that’s okay!

Have a great weekend!

#3 Purple Haze

I love this purple top. I think the color is what does it for me, purple haze. That’s what I call it anyway. This technically is dress length, I just folded it under. Sadly, it’s not long enough for work! Maybe I can restyle it with some leggings for a weekend outing.

I’ve haven’t been brave enough to leave my house for photos yet. I was going to just try going out in my backyard, but it’s shared with my duplex neighbors and I didn’t want them staring at me! I actually haven’t even told anyone I know about this blog and challenge yet. Is that weird?

I emailed Megan over at Feathers and Freckles for some tips about taking photos. Visit her blog if you haven’t! She’s super sweet and a fellow ginger! :) Anyway, I know she takes her own photos [like I do] and they always look great! I think I will be attempting to take her advice and just find a location without any people. I have one in mind, so I’ll just need to find some others.

Maybe while I’m at it I’ll tell my boyfriend about my dirty little secret. [this blog...but you got that right?]

It's MONDAY!

Don't you just love Mondays?  Don't you just love sarcasm even more?  Haha, nah Monday's aren't so bad!
Sso what shoes did I end up getting?

I haven't spent a lot of time in them yet, but at first test they are pretty comfortable.  Please remember that comfort [especially when referring to shoes] is completely relative.  These are 4 inch platforms, so I'm not expecting to win a dance marathon in them, but I'll be able to handle them for the wedding, the pictures and at least part of the reception. :)

I also wanted to take outfit photos today, however my sweater dress got all stretched out and looked frumpy by quitting time.  What is that about?  I don't know enough about fabrics to shop accordingly, but I hate when clothes stretch tremendously throughout the day.  So, as 4 o'clock hit on this lovely Monday I was wearing a teal sack synched with a belt. Eck.  Although, my outfit did start out cute and it was super comfy and simple.  A definite go-to for the fall months, so I recreated it on polyvore for you! :)

Sweater Dress Outfit

I'm going out of town for a conference for a couple of days, so I'll see you later this week. Hopefully, by then I can get up the photos and some notes on a DIY project I did! Yippee!!
