I'm Ba-ack! ...with some photos :)

Did ya miss me? Be honest! Well, maybe don't, ha! Anyway, after that much needed mini break I'm back and feeling on top of things a bit. Just a bit, but it's better. :)

So, I was going to continue on my huge book review from before, but I've changed my mind. Maybe I'll get to some of the remaining books down the road, plus I've actually read two books since then and you can always go check out my goodreads. Instead let me share some awesome photos from one my most recent shoots.  I did photos with Elise before in her Kimono, but she wanted some regular senior portraits also.  I think they turned out great!

Check 'em all out on my facebook page!

Later this week, look for a style post and a new fun friday post! :)

October Goals

Every month I tend to write out a goal list...or at least I have been doing this for the past few months. Now, I never finish everything on the list (I have better intentions than actual follow through), but I always accomplish a few of the points. At the very least, it keeps me focused and helps me “wander” less (not that wandering is a bad thing!). I thought it might keep me even more accountable if I shared them with you. I do have the 27 before 28 list, but I think that’s too long term for me. I seem to do better with these month to months (although I have knocked some items off my big list!).

Onward!

This month I'd like to...
+Make a maxi skirt
+Finish Elise’s & Zach’s senior portraits
+Take steps to get more photo gigs
+Make progress on Family Recipe book - aim for 50% finished
+Workout 3x a week [walk theo- maybe take a zumba class?!]
+Work on new photography and blogger logos
+Start holiday shopping (and saving for holiday shopping)
+Go to a pumpkin patch! …& carve pumpkins with Brian!
+Celebrate Halloween

For the record, I have the fabric for my skirt in the wash as we speak AND in a couple weekends I'm headed back home to finish up the senior photos!

So, what are your goals for this month??

Photo Shoot : Elise

I had my first paid photo shoot two weekends ago and it was awesome! I got a taste of what it feels like making money doing something that you have a passion for. It’s pretty sweet and has me thinking of all sorts of ways to actually make it lucrative enough that maybe I’d be able to change my work situation in a few years. ::fingers crossed::

Anyway, Elise is a little sister of my friend and she contacted me about 6 months ago to do her senior photos. Then a few weeks ago she asked if we could do some in her Kimono this summer and do the rest in the fall. Of course I said yes! Anyway, here are a few of my favorite shots! Also, the kimono isn’t random - she comes from a military family and was born on a base in Japan. :)

Don't forget to be a fan! :)

Have a great weekend!

Me, Myself & I - Link Up Party!

1) What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
Pursue a life of art and travel. Specifically, photography - with National Geographic. Dream job right there folks.

2) If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?
Quit my job, ha. No, but seriously. Quit my job and spend 3-4 months travelling and seeing the world and spend the last couple months at home with my family. [assuming I could afford it, but in this hypothetical I CAN! ha!]

3) If a front page news article was written on you, what would the headline be?
"LOCAL REDHEAD RIDES GIRAFFE OUT OF ZOO" hahahahaha! Idk, but that would be sweet.

4) What is your biggest pet peeve?
People not actually listening, when they say they are. {ahem, most boyfriends/husbands out there} Generally, I don’t interrupt while someone is watching tv or doing something else, but if if I do it’s because I have something that you need to know for whatever reason. When said person tells me or implies that they are aware of my presence and voice and are listening to me...and then just don’t. GAR. I hate repeating myself.

5) What is your favorite chick flick movie?
Oooo, good one. How ever can I choose? I own several movies that could be put in the chick flick category, but could also be put in other categories. SO, I’m going strictly Chick-FlicksThat-ONLY-Girls-Would-Ever-Want-To-See Category.
Okay, here it is...

Legally Blonde.

Don’t judge me, I’m allowed guilty pleasures.

Friday Fotos: Senior Zach

My little bro is going to be a senior this year. Yikes. And, as I’m 10 years older than him I remember him as a baby...I mean I even changed diapers occasionally. It just makes me feel old, haha. Anyway, when the family came to town I took some senior photos for him. He was impatient and I was feeling rushed and the lighting was atrocious [blinding sun], but regardless of all this there are still a few I like. I figured I’d share those today and also inform you I plan on taking more for him [hopefully better ones] sometime this fall.

What a cutie,eh? Lol.  Anyway, I'm off to a fairly busy weekend.  Brian's BFF [lol, guys don't say that...] from highschool is coming to visit and we are celebrating Brian's birthday - which is in fact on Saturday!  He's going to be 28 [shhh, don't tell him I told you]!  Then on Sunday we are going to have an "English Breakfast" and watch the end of Wimbleton, woot!  Anyway...

Happy [early] Birthday Brian! Love You!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Foto Fridays!

Something new on the blog, yep! I’ve decided that some friday’s I’ll do my Friday Favs and others I will share some of my photos with you! This week I’ll be doing the latter as I’ve been hauling my camera out more lately. These photos are actually from a year ago, ha.  BUT I just got them uploaded to facebook and the ones I was planning on sharing aren't done being edited.  So yea, enjoy!

All of these photos were taken at this house.  I had driven by it everytime I went to Brian's and thought it looked cool.  Eventually, I talked him into going there for some photos.
Good thing too, because they tore it down!

being impatient silly

Is it just me or does this house belong in a horror film?

Oh and by the by, you can stalk my photography on facebook if you like. :)

Lost Passion? [style log]

Wet dreary days always leave me feeling contemplative...and calm. So last week we had such a day and I started to think of things I am passionate about, or tried to. I attempted to make a mental list and I’m sorry to say it wasn’t easy for me at all. Is that sad or what? I mean, I find lots of things interesting enough...but I wouldn’t call myself passionate about them.

I want to be passionate about photography, but am I? If I were, wouldn’t I find more time for it in my life? Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. I’m passionate about reading I think. I have a thirst for it. I enjoy reading immensely and I feel strange or off when I’m “in between” books or just lack the time to read. I think maybe I would like to write a book someday...about what? Who knows.

[sweater/f21 :: skirt/thrifted :: belt/f21 :: boots/merona via target}

I think I have a passion to be creative. To find creativity somehow. It’s hard though, most of my day I am surrounded by an environment that stifles me. I wish I could find a way to transform that somehow, but I haven’t a clue how. Maybe if I just start with my desk space and fill it with things I find inspiring or things that make me smile. I have pictures of loved ones, so that’s a start. I think I’m going to do more though. Wait . Wow, ok I literally just got an idea. I’ve been wanting to create more digital art, so maybe I should take some quotes I like and make some typography artwork...something like all those lovely quotes I find on pinterest. Yes, I think that sounds like a good idea. Then I can print a few and hang them around my desk.

I do think I am passionate about photography...and art in general. Just because I don’t always create things doesn’t mean I’m not passionate about it, right? Right. I mean, I don’t create music, but I’d call myself passionate about music. I couldn’t survive my day to day without it.

I know I said this not too long ago, but it’s important enough to say again. I want need to focus more on the people and things that bring me the most joy. I always put things off and procrastinate, but life is short, so why wait to start tomorrow when I can start today?

Ha, let’s just help I can hold myself to that thought.

Style Log: Don't Worry, Be Happy

{dress/f21 :: watch/target :: everything else :: no clue :P }

I feel like I need to focus more on doing things that make me happy, rather than just things I just feel like I should be doing. I’m not talking about shirking my grown-up responsibilities or anything - just refocusing things. It’s getting warmer now and I plan on enjoying my summer fully.

So, some things I’d like to do...or stop doing:

-Spend less time in front of the TV. I mean that’s easier in the summer ‘cause “my shows” aren’t on, but still. Sometimes I just get to lazy and spend sunday afternoons watching movies. LAME.

-Be more active. Play lots of tennis. Take Theo on lots of walks. Maybe even play some basketball again. :P

-Explore. I will be living in a semi new town this summer, while I’m familiar with the immediate area I’m not with the surrounding stuff...there will be a lot of new places available to me within a hour or two drive. :)

-Get back into photography! This has really fallen back as of late, not cool, not cool. I really want to get back into the habit of taking my camera everywhere with me.

-I want to learn new things.  My commute is getting longer by about 40 minutes, so I'm thinking about getting some language CDs for the drive - spanish maybe?  Seems the most logical.  And maybe get back into the piano or guitar?

-Decorate or house!  Do DIY home and art projects!

-Maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Eat better!

Okay, that's all I can think of for now!
My friends are headed up this weekend for a girls weekend and I couldn't be more excited! It's gonna rock!  Hope you all have great weekends as well!

Winter Walking

I thought today I would share some photos with you! I took these earlier this year...er wait, late last year. :P It was the first “real” snow I believe {before they closed up this beautiful park for the season} and I bugged Brian until he agreed to go out in it with me and Theo!

Enjoy! :)
