New Skillz

A bit of inspiration hit me...and I learned a new photoshop technique. See?

For a while I’ve been toying with the idea of opening an etsy shop. I’m just trying to get some stuff in order first. These are going to be one of the products offered. Right now I’m thinking I’ll do up a few of some famous people and some symbols and sayings, but I also want to offer custom digital watercolor portraits. ‘Cuz I think they are pretty sweet.

Anyway, I’m feeling excited and generous (& see an opportunity for possible mutual advertising) - so anybody want a free one?? It’ll just be a digital copy, but it will be a good resolution so you can print it out yourself if you like! (and obviously it won't have the watermark!)

Maybe this don’t look as cool as I think, ha! Just in case they do, I’m going to say free to the first 3 people that email me! :) There is just one catch...if you like it you just share it on your blog/twitter/facebook [whatever you have] and link back to me and my etsy shop (which will hopefully be up soon!).

Okay, so send an email to kassieART at gmail dot com with subject line “I love free shit!”...okay you don’t have to use that subject line, but make it something relevant! :P Then we will have a lovely email convo about what photo you want to use and what colors you’d like to see. And hopefully you’ll end up with some super sweet, custom art!

Happy Wednesday!

Music Monday: One of those days...

UGH. It's Monday ALREADY?  I loathe monday's...6 am comes way too quickly. I hit snooze like 4 times this morning.  Anyway, this song seems appropriate, no?

I mean seriously, who doesn't love the Bangles??  In all their 80s rocker chic glory??  Oh you?  Okay, well if that's not your cup of tea.  Then how about this....

Now, if you're about to tell me you don't like Florence + the Machine either...then don't.  It's monday afterall.  I find Florence equally strange and entertaining.  I've seen her preform (through the tv on some show, ha) and yea, she's off beat (in my opinion), but I think that's why I like her.  Plus she's a ginger. :)

Happy Monday! Ha!

Friday Fotos: Senior Zach

My little bro is going to be a senior this year. Yikes. And, as I’m 10 years older than him I remember him as a baby...I mean I even changed diapers occasionally. It just makes me feel old, haha. Anyway, when the family came to town I took some senior photos for him. He was impatient and I was feeling rushed and the lighting was atrocious [blinding sun], but regardless of all this there are still a few I like. I figured I’d share those today and also inform you I plan on taking more for him [hopefully better ones] sometime this fall.

What a cutie,eh? Lol.  Anyway, I'm off to a fairly busy weekend.  Brian's BFF [lol, guys don't say that...] from highschool is coming to visit and we are celebrating Brian's birthday - which is in fact on Saturday!  He's going to be 28 [shhh, don't tell him I told you]!  Then on Sunday we are going to have an "English Breakfast" and watch the end of Wimbleton, woot!  Anyway...

Happy [early] Birthday Brian! Love You!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Dare to Dream.

Today, I am going to give you a glimpse into my inner psychosis. Into my subconscious. Into the depths of my crazy mind. I’m going to tell you about a dream I had last week. On a nightly basis I have very weird dreams. Seriously. I mean lots of people have weird dreams when they are super tired or under the influence of NyQuil (I have weirder and more vivid dreams in those situations, or don’t dream at all). However, the dream I’m going to tell you about was under normal circumstances. Let me set the scene.

I’m in my watermelon, cotton sundress and black leggings. I’m also wearing my teal crossover purse that I wear everyday. I can’t tell you where I am, I’m not sure. I am in a small group of people, some faces familiar, some not. The faces change throughout the dream. I feel like maybe I’m on some sort of tour. We are wandering around in a old home. No not home, mansion. Someone is telling us about the various rooms and pointing at things. I feel damp, or sweaty...specifically on my rear. I reach back and feel around on my dress....oh. my. god. I have shit my pants...er my leggings. I’m suddenly I know this is exactly what has happened, though I don’t know when. I position my purse over my bum in an attempt to cover my predicament. I go on the hunt for a bathroom like a madwoman. One of the people who were pointing and talking at us earlier tell me where a public restroom is. I search. I keep searching for what feels like forever. I can’t find the bathroom. I go back to this person, they tell me again. I try again and still have no luck. Then the tour (or whatever) leaves and for some reason I have to go with. People are talking to me and standing near me like I don’t have shit in my pants. Finally, someone I don’t know steps out of the shadows and opens a door. “In here”, they say. This someone is genderless. It’s a small, arched door under a huge, almost majestic staircase. I don’t ask questions, I just walk in. The door closes behind me, I’m surrounded by darkness. I feel my heart rate increase and then...

I wake up.

What. The. Hell. First I would like to say that, with the exception of when I was a baby, I have never shit myself. I will not lie, there have been a couple close calls, but it did not happen and an illness and/or some intense mexican was involved. Okay, so let’s break this down and explore some possible reasons for this ridiculous dream.

Reason 1
I did, in fact have some mexican food the day of this dream and it had been working its way through my system. :/ Haha, TMI?

Reason 2
There is some deeper meaning that relates to what’s happening in my life right now. Hmm, so I was searching a lot in this dream and never found what I was looking for. That could definitely apply to my life currently, although that’s a pretty broad statement and probably applies to many people’s lives. I was also very concerned about hiding the fact that I shit myself (obviously) - so maybe I worried about getting caught in an embarrassing situation? Lastly, I ended up getting closed into a dark room. Maybe I’m feeling trapped and am unsure how to proceed? Lol, interpreting things is just so broad and applies to everything.

Pretty sure it was just the mexican food. :)

Oh and since it’s technically Music Monday, I’ll leave you with this. Which is completely unrelated other than the title, but it’s just oh so good!

Friday Favorites: Summer Reading

I’ve decided to make myself a summer reading list. We’re only a week into summer, so this seems an appropriate title. My Disclaimer: I do not intend to finish all of these books this summer, but I just wanted a guideline to narrow my choices down. I’ll be excited if I get more than 3 read before fall. Lol I just finished reading up The Girl Who Played with Fire and have started The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. After that, I'm hoping to read Divergent, but currently there is a waiting list at both of my libraries! I’m totally game for some input on books...whether they are on this list or not!!

Summer Reading List (organized by author)

  • Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bardbury
  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
  • City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare
  • Middlesex by Jeffery Eugenides
-I own this and have been wanting to read this for awhile, but I’ve held off because I do a lot of reading in the breakroom at work and when people ask what I’m reading - well some may think it’s inappropriate. Idk, maybe I’m just being silly - they do constantly blabber on about religion after all. :P

  • If I Stay (If I Stay #1) by Gayle Forman
  • Where She Went (If I Stay #2) by Gayle Forman
  • Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
-okay, so I’ve heard lots of conflicting things about this book, I bought it for a buck at a used book store. What are your thoughts?

  • The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
  • For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway
  • Never Let Me Go by Kazui Ishiguro
-I’ve seen the movie, hopefully it doesn’t ruin the book - which I still really want to read.

  • The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
-Yes, I read this in highschool, but I feel a nagging to read it again (because it was so horrifying).

  • The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson
  • Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth
-I thought this series sounded interesting and a friend has assured me I'll enjoy it!
  • Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth
  • The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe by J. Randy Taraborrelli
  • Uglies (Uglies #1) by Scott Westerfield

So, any thoughts??  Oh and by the by, if you're a big reader you should join me on Goodreads!

Some Inspiration: The Great Gatsby

Let’s talk about one of the Greatest stories of all time, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. If you’ve never read this book, then you’ve been living under a rock...or must hate reading. This was one of those books that I had to read for english class or some crap and I actually ended up loving it. It’s been made into a movie already with the lovely Mia Farrow and Robert Redford (actually there are several Gatsby movies), but there will be a new one out this December...and I can’t wait! Now, I haven’t told Brian this part yet, but I think it would be super fun to get all dressed up for a date night...inspired by the film of course. AND, as my Who What Where eNewsletter informs me, retro - specifically the roaring 20s, is totally in. Ha! :P (This is a bit of a side comment, but I thought if I ever get married I might like to do a Gatsby sort of theme, so yea.)

For funsies I made a couple outfits with Polyvore. Two of them are possibly affordable options made up of clothes from Modcloth and Ruche. The third is silly pricey and made up from searching on Polyvore. Ha!

And here, after all that might as well watch the movie trailer! :)
